2K Games and Gearbox have released an update that removes Denuvo protection from the PC version of Borderlands 4, as reported by Shazoo.

The game launched on PC in September 2025, meaning Denuvo remained in place for a little more than a year before its removal.

The decision is unusual for 2K Games, which has removed Denuvo from only a small number of its titles. The report does not give a reason for the change or detail any performance effects.
